WHO WE ARE

We support artists and artisans working across every genre, giving them the space, resources, and platform to build their practice. It is through collaboration with our broad network of community partners that drives initiatives related to heritage enhancement, tourism, education, entertainment, and economic development. That work extends into the community through our educational programs—from hands-on workshops to projects in local schools—because we believe the arts have a real capacity to change how people see and engage with the world.

We're also the caretakers of the largest public art collection in the state. Our place-based installations bring that collection into everyday spaces, connecting people to the history and character of our community.

Our home is a historic, 30,000-square-foot property refitted for creative work. Inside you'll find five art galleries, flexible meeting and event spaces, working artist studios, and a gift shop stocked with pieces made by local artisans. It's a place where you can see art being made, host a gathering, or simply spend time with the work on view.

Underlying all of this is a belief that the arts are an engine for economic growth. When creativity has room to flourish, the whole community benefits. We'd love for you to be part of it—come visit, and see what's happening here!

At the Community Council for the Arts, our mission is to support local artists and enrich the life of our community through the arts. We give artists the opportunity to show their work, connect with audiences, and develop their craft—through gallery exhibitions that span a wide range of styles and mediums, and through workshops and educational programs open to both newcomers and seasoned artists. Beyond the gallery, we bring people together with community events, festivals, performances, and collaborative projects that close the distance between artists and the public.
